Ann Maloney
Ann Maloney is a freelance food and dining writer born in New Orleans and now living in Cocoa Beach, Fla. She has been cooking since she had to pull up a chair to reach the countertops in her family’s kitchen, earning her the nickname “frying pan Ann.”
Ann recently retired from her job as recipes editor at The Washington Post in D.C., where she also wrote a “Dinner in Minutes” column. Before that, she was a food writer/editor on the “Where NOLA Eats” team at NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune in New Orleans from 2016 to 2019. She moved back into the reporter ranks after serving as The Times-Picayune arts and entertainment editor from 2004 to 2015. Before returning to her hometown, New Orleans, she worked for The New York Times Company in various jobs since 1989. She spent the majority of that time as features editor for The New York Times Regional Newspaper Group in Manhattan. While in New York, she earned her Culinary Arts diploma from the Institute of Culinary Education.
She is thrilled to be in beautiful Cocoa Beach with her Cajun husband, Colley Charpentier, who is also a great cook. They have been exploring the Space Coast restaurant scene as well as discovering the diverse and delicious offerings at area grocery stores.
